A new skyscraper will radically change downtown Miami\u2019s iconic skyline \u2014 and introduce the city to one of the most famous luxury hotel brands in the world.<\/p>\n
The Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences Miami, to be located at 300 Biscayne Boulevard, will mark the debut of the Waldorf Astoria brand in Miami. The company, which is owned by Hilton Hotels,\u00a0operates 30 properties worldwide<\/a>, including two in Boca Raton, two in Key West and one in Orlando.<\/p>\n Designed by the Miami firm\u00a0Sieger Suarez Architects<\/a>, the\u00a0skyscraper will resemble<\/a>\u00a0a pile of unevenly stacked glass cubes. The building is projected to reach 1,049 feet in height, making it one of the tallest in Florida. The current titleholder is the\u00a0Panorama Tower in Brickell,<\/a>\u00a0which stands 868 feet tall.<\/p>\n The project is a joint venture between the New York-based Property Markets Group (PMG), Toronto\u2019s Greybrook Realty Partners and the Miami-based\u00a0S2 Development<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are thrilled to bring the rich history and heritage of this hotel brand to Miami,\u201d said PMG principal Ryan Shear in a press release. \u201cThe city continues to thrive as a top global destination with increasing arts, culture, tourism, fashion and luxury brands. This partnership is a major milestone for Miami\u2019s real estate and hospitality industries.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/a>PMG is also the developer of\u00a0X Miami, a 464-apartment rental tower<\/a>\u00a0at 230 NE Fourth Street, that is part of the company\u2019s X Social Communities division,\u00a0which offers rent-by-bedroom\u00a0<\/a>apartments pitched at millennials. That building opened earlier this year.<\/p>\n The exact number of units and price ranges in the new building are still to be determined, but according to\u00a0a Bloomberg report<\/a>, the project will include 140 hotel rooms and 400 condos. Pre-sales on the project aren\u2019t scheduled to begin until late 2019.
